Area covered

• U.S. venues within 10 miles of the Big Bear Lake landing-page center for day camps, and within 50 miles for sleepaway camps.
• The separate Inland Empire comparison uses day camp venues within 20 miles of the Inland Empire landing-page center. That circle does not include Big Bear Lake.

Prices and care

• Typical prices are medians (the middle price) of paid camp options. Day-camp weekly tuition is adjusted to five camp days.
• Sleepaway weekly tuition is adjusted to seven calendar days using the listed session dates.
• Hourly tuition covers regular camp hours only, excluding extended-care hours and fees.
• The 8-to-5 weekly price includes required, listed care fees.
• Separate care prices are medians of listed paid weekly fees. Free care and missing fees are excluded, and packages vary.

How we count

• Price and hour percentages count options with known prices or hours.
• Aid, refund and nonprofit percentages count each day or sleepaway camp provider once across both areas, using October 2026 provider records.
• Policy percentages use all those providers as the denominator, count only explicit positive records, and are rounded to the nearest whole percent.
• Prices and hour percentages need at least 20 usable options from five providers. Sparse figures are omitted rather than filled in from a larger area.
• Day camp provider comparisons count each provider once within each search area. The same provider can appear in both counts; regional benchmarks are separate from local figures.
